History
In history, what you can learn by heart is the key dates, names, events and their causes. Lumi quizzes you on the gaps until you can produce them without looking.

How to turn this subject into cards
Split each chapter into one note per period or event, with the date, the people involved, the causes and the consequences. Lumi mostly quizzes the dates, names and definitions, which is the material you put in an essay. The classic trap is learning a timeline without understanding how one event led to the next. Try to say out loud why one event caused another before you look at the note. Lumi gives you the knowledge to put in your essay. To make dates stick, retrieving beats rereading (Roediger and Karpicke, 2006).
